Sketch Evolution was engaged by Ample Projects to provide General Management and Technical Direction to the Taronga Zoo precinct for Vivid Sydney 2017.
General Management included wholistic and detailed budgeting and tracking of all creative elements including a projection show, contract negotiation and formulation, international project-specific insurances and day-to-day running of all creative management for the project.
Technical Direction included providing consultation on creative elements, managing all international freight, detailing technical requirements with the build partner in China, local electrical and engineering compliance, sound design delivery, logistics of creative elements and integration of creative elements with the event management company and Taronga Zoo site.
One of the main attractions was the large Port Jackson Shark. 21 meters long, 10 meters wide and over 7 meters high, this lighting installation was pixel-mapped with over 4,000 RGB LED pixels and required close to 50 universes of DMX to control. The audience experienced walking through the mouth and body, surrounded in light.
